The NLSA is pleased to announce its youth Players of the Month for May 2024

Jun. 11, 2024

*Note: Some age groups did not declare a Player of the Month for May 2024 due to timing of the season start

GU13 Championship - Carly Greene, St. John’s Soccer Club
Currently in her first year of U13, Carly has played soccer since she was four. This year, whether it’s with her U13 Championship team or the NLSA U12 Provincial Program, Carly gives it her all when she steps onto the field. She consistently delivers outstanding performances & there’s never a doubt of her love of the game. Great work, Carly!

BU13 Premier - Inis O’Keefe, St. John’s Soccer Club
Always calm under pressure, Inis O’Keefe’s fitness allows him to always be available as an option for his teammates. His scanning of the pitch keeps him out of trouble and retaining possession. With an eye for a key pass or shot, and his ability to use his left, and right foot, Inis is a constant goal threat and has racked up several goals and assists already this season. A versatile player and great teammate!

GU13 Premier - Lilly Carrigan, Paradise Soccer Club
Lilly Carrigan has had a fantastic performance in the month of May in the GU13 Premier Youth League. As the goalkeeper for PSC, Lilly utilized her athleticism to make some excellent saves, often seeing multiple shots in a game. On the attacking front, she has created promising scoring opportunities with her excellent ball distribution skills. Her hard work in training has paid dividends so far this season. Congrats Lilly!

BU15 Championship - Amjad Adefami, St. John’s Soccer Club
Amjad is an asset to the team. He has a strong knowledge of the sport, demonstrates tremendous sportsmanship, and maintains a positive attitude. Great job, Amjad!

GU15 Championship - Paige Brockerville, Portugal Cove-St. Phillips
Paige has shown great commitment to the team, and a powerful right foot. She plays as an attacking midfielder and striker and was the first player to score for the PCSP Spurrs in history as well finding time to score on a free kick. We hope she will continue to find the back of the nets with her outstanding shooting skills.

BU15 Premier - Ben Veitch, St. John’s Soccer Club
Ben has been a dominate force up front for us this month. His combination of speed, strength and finishing ability makes him a challenging mark for any defender. His hard work netted him two goals in each game played and he also helped out with a couple assists. Congrats to Ben on a great month of May!

GU15 Premier - Paityn Williams, Mount Pearl Soccer Association
Paityn is a dynamic and versatile young player. Her attacking ability, both as a forward and left fullback, helps her team create many scoring opportunities. Paityn was a key contributor in her team's victory over Burin during their home opener, scoring once and setting up others. Paityn is also a member of the NLSA GU15 team.

GU17 Premier - Izzy Veitch, St. John’s Soccer Club
Izzy Veitch is a lesson in perseverance. In the Fall of 2022, while training with the NLSA, Izzy suffered an ACL injury which sidelined her for almost 14 months. She missed the entire 2023 season, but was determined to be part of the squad for 2024. As part of her rehab, Izzy committed considerable hours to the gym, putting in the work, pushing through the pain barrier, and rarely missing a practice with her club through the winter training program.

For her return to the PYL, in true Izzy style, she scored a hat-trick in her first game back. She followed that up with solid performances against Feildians and CBS adding another goal to her total. Her speed, finishing skills and link up play have been outstanding so far, which means the rest of the season looks very bright for Izzy Veitch.

BU17 Premier - Aubrey Nunes, St. John’s Soccer Club
Aubrey Nunes played a pivotal role in leading St. John's Soccer Club's BU17 to an undefeated start to the season with 3 straight wins in May. Playing primarily a holding mid role, Aubrey's defensive excellence stopped numerous threats and featured winning countless 1 v 1 battles and quickly transitioning the team to offense with effective distribution.  Aubrey also supported the offense with 3 goals in May, and currently leads the league in goals.
