NLSA Athletes of the Month for June 2019
Senior Male: Stefan Slaney, St. Lawrence Laurentians
The Johnson Insurance Challenge Trophy Senior player of the month for June is Stefan Slaney from St Lawrence Laurentians. Slaney is the league’s leading goal scorer with seven goals and that has helped St Lawrence this year get the wins they need to hold down the final playoff spot with 11 games still to play.
Senior Female: Jessie Noseworthy, Holy Cross Avalon Ford
Jessie Noseworthy of Holy Cross Avalon Ford is the Breen’s Jubilee Trophy player of the month for June. Noseworthy had 12 goals in eight games played and is the leading scorer In Breen’s Jubilee Trophy League. Noseworthy’s Holy Cross team is in first place with a nine wins no losses, and no ties record.
Junior Female: Lauren Rowe, CBS U15 Girls
Lauren Rowe is off to a flying start this year, scoring in every game she has played so far. A midfielder with CBS in the Premier Youth League, she scored the first goal for her team and followed up with another three additional goals leading her teammates to a 6-0 victory. She scored another game winning goal in her next game for a total of 5 goals in only 2 games. Rowe is quite clearly an offensive threat, helping her team stay in first place in PYL GU15 division. She is the leading scorer for the GU15 Premier league. Rowe is a natural leader both on and off the field. Her work ethic and never quit attitude has the ability to make players around her better.
Junior Male: Ronald Collins, Feildians U15 Boys
A goalkeeper with the Feildians U15Boys Premier Youth League team, 14 year-old Ronald Collins had some outstanding performances for his team in June. While the team was still seeking its first win at the end of June, Collins’ work in net is credited with keeping the matches closer than expected. Collins is relatively new to soccer and continues to develop very well in the goalkeeper position. He also plays for the NLSA provincial team.
